吳副總統今天上午視察阿里山公路「芙谷峨橋」，下午將參訪達娜伊谷自然生態園區、八八水災永久屋「逐鹿社區」。
對於立法院長王金平今天上午表示「聽到人民期待」，但難滿足各方期待，除了感激也表達歉意一事，副總統僅表示「尊重他的決定」，隨即專心聽公路總局簡報。
公路總局表示，阿里山公路（台18線）71公里處，於民國98年的八八水災中發生大崩坍，路基流失近200公尺，造成交通數度中斷。
經公路總局開闢臨時便道後，由於地質極不穩定，不時有大量落石坍落，非常危險，因此決定興建橋梁跨越，以避開崩塌區。
斥資新台幣2億8000多萬元的「芙谷峨橋」，歷經3年才興建完成，橋長198公尺，橋面寬9公尺，是一座單跨半穿越式鋼拱橋，紅色的橋身橫過山谷，非常醒目。
公路總局指出，「芙谷峨橋」是八八水災最後一項復建工程，自102年1月15日開放通車，已成為阿里山公路沿線的新景點。
施工單位表示，「芙谷峨橋」是以阿里山鄒族原住民語音FKUO命名，意味滿山遍野的「芙谷峨」樹（山芙蓉），山芙蓉是鄒族的吉祥樹種。1040515
